Fine-tune for the Stained Water Bite
Your river is some version of silty, muddy, green. It has just rained, flooded, or there is considerable algae. You can see a bright bait in 2 or 3 feet of water. If wading in water up to your knees, you cannot see your boots very well. This is not a precise science. Go with your instinct on deciding clear versus stained.
